At age 16 I began my career working in a dental lab and subsequently graduated USC dental school in 1962 at age 25. Afterwards I served in the army where I greatly expanded my skills.
I started my practice in Hawthorne 2 years later and have had the privilege to serve families that I’m now treating their grandchildren. I’ve been blessed with a wonderful and dedicated staff that has become my dental family. Our moto has become, “Our family, treating your family”
I believe my success as a dentist is because I listen to my patients, give the best possible dental care, in a gentle manner and at a fair price to fit your budget.
Fariba Assil, DDS
I have always loved science, health sciences in particular. Dentistry has given me the opportunity to identify dental problems and be able to restore these problems to a healthy mouth. I enjoy patient communication so that I can tailor the best treatment to my patients health, esthetic and financial needs.
Khoi Nguyen, DDS
I’m an advocate for oral health. Everyday I can change a person’s life by fixing their smile or relieving their dental pain. Having the skills in a career that can make such a profound impact on others keeps me gratified and grounded.
Saman Mostajabian, DDS
I’ve always had a passion for dentistry because it’s a combination of art and science. My goal is to provide patients the highest quality dentistry with kindness and care in a comfortable, relaxed, and friendly environment.
Pooja Bhalla, DDS
Since I was a child, I knew that I would work as a health professional. I’ve always found great satisfaction in being able to help people and make them smile. In college, I majored in psychology with a biology emphasis so that I would be able to integrate it with my dental practice to help patients overcome previous dental experiences that weren’t ideal. I strive to make long lasting relationships with my patients.
Bassem Farid, DDS
I was drawn to this profession out of my interest in service and healthcare. Dentistry provided an opportunity for me to interact with patients and serve their needs to the best of my ability. I enjoy my career because it allows me to quickly and effectively alleviate pain and prevent pain from occurring. I also have personal satisfaction from my happy and grateful patients.
Calvin Dang, DDS
I love working with my hands and paying close attention to details. Working with perio patients allows me to help them control the disease and strengthen the bone holding the root of the tooth. I enjoy interacting with my patients, while educating and promoting oral health.
Farshid Sean Fahid, DDS
Dentistry has always been in my family. Growing up my father who is an endodontist was my inspiration for me to become an endodontist. I saw firsthand the impact he had on patients lives by relieving their pain and saving their teeth. Since 2007, I have been a proud member of Schnierow Dental Care and had the privilege to serve the community of Hawthorne. I enjoy helping patients improve their smile and confidence.
Evelina Mendicini, DDS
I wanted to be a dentist since I was 11 years old. I love seeing people smile and being an orthodontist allows me to see smiles every day. In dental school I chose orthodontics since it is a place where patients are always happy, when they got their braces on and when they get them off.
Erik L. Southers, DDS
I liked my dentist and orthodontist growing up and in college that led me to wanting to go to medical school. While I was in dental school, I decided to become an orthodontist. I really enjoy the puzzle solving aspect of finding the best treatment for my patients and the happiness people experience after treatment. I feel like it was a good choice.
Leila Gonzales, DDS
Being a pediatric dentist allows me to restore optimum dental health in children. It’s important to educate a child in proper oral care and getting them comfortable going to a dentist. It’s the most rewarding for me when a child gives me a smile after their treatment.
Christene R. Magalang, DDS
As one of Dr. Schnierow’s dentists, I have seen this office evolve and progress over the years. With this, I can confidently say that the quality of treatment we provide has stood against the test of time. I have seen the children that were under my care before, grow up to become parents themselves and it always gives me great joy when they entrust their own children to receive the same tender loving care that I provide.

I grew up in an underserved population and because of lack of uneducated oral hygiene I’ve seen many people lose some or all of their teeth. This experience inspired me to become a dental hygienist. My profession gives me opportunities to meet patients every day to educate them on their oral health, make their teeth look better, and teach them how to take care of their teeth. I help my patients acknowledge that it’s possible to have a healthy mouth regardless of age and financial status. I’m grateful to be a dental hygienist because I touch lives, help create healthy smiles and overall, make a difference every day.

It’s a privilege to know that my job is making a positive impact on someone else’s health. Dental hygiene is a field that I get to see most of my patients every 3-6 months. It’s a very important job to help patients maintain their oral health by preventing and treating periodontal disease. Besides enjoying seeing my patients, in my spare time I enjoy reading theology books and gardening, especially growing exotic tropical fruit trees.
